Get Ready For Fight Night!!

April 30th, 2009 by Ken

This has to be one of the most hyped up fights since Ricky Hatton took on Floyd Mayweather Jnr last as the everyone is talking about these two in the build up to the fight on Saturday night in America,

Many press confrences having taken place in the past week and i have to say there has not been as much drama in these including how much of a high profile fight this is going to be you would expect the two to be jumping over tables at each other.

To be honest i think these to boxers respect each other and what they have achieved so far in their carrer with Manny being named the best pount for pound fighter at the moment

Hatton is in fine shape at the moment and looks at his best the only doubts is that he has not trained to hard and becomes tiered on fight night

Being British and From Manchester i have to back Ricky Hatton on this one!

Ryan Giggs Wins PFA Awards

April 27th, 2009 by Ken

Veteran Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs was last night named by the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year for the first time in his magnificent career.

The Welsh man has won just about every major honour available during his time at Old Trafford, from the Premier league, Champions league, FA cup, Carling cup and world super cup but had seen the PFA prize elude him.

Having been named twice for Young Player of the Year, in 1992 and 1993, but failed to land the award despite his remarkable consistency over the course of the last 17 years.

This has finally changed now with the 35-year-old recognised by his peers as being the Premier League’s top performer during the 2008/09 campaign.

League One Stockport County in Finacial Trouble

April 23rd, 2009 by Ken

After successful seasons with promotion an a confident finish in this season lying in 14th Stockport County have hit financial problems. Many efforts are being made to prevent the club going into administration.

And as you are all thinking it, yes it’s over its massive bill owing to the Inland Revenue no surprises there then.

In the meantime Stockport County have to come up with a payment plan that is acceptable to the Revenue. Stockport County have insisted that they are not going into administration as they have some secured some short-term funding which could be being pumped through by their main sponsors Just search

Things are getting that bad that they are struggling to pay the policing bills for Friday’s final home game of the season against Crewe

Many are hoping that they can get them selfs out of these difficult times but we have all learnt that personal loans may not be the long term solution.

In many respects their problems are typical of clubs on the fringe of Manchester where there is the choice of watching either City or United.

Haye up’s tension with Klitschko

April 22nd, 2009 by Ken

David Haye attended a press conference on Monday night in London with Wladimir Klitschko ahead of their well spoke about fight in June 20th .

In this conference Haye refused to apologise for his trash talk in the lead up to their fight in summer in Schalke’s football stadium in Germany.

Haye has challenged Klitschko for the IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles, and continues to show little respect for the champion on their latest public outing together.

Stating that he thinks his style is “crap”, and a waste of money to watch and that he brings more entertainment and will on the night when he beats him.

At the conference Haye was wearing a t-shirt showing him clutching the severed heads of the Klitschko brothers now that’s a sign of respect.

Chelsea man believes this is his ‘best-ever’ campaign.

April 21st, 2009 by Ken

Is Frank Lampard For Real?

The Chelsea star man believes this season has been his ‘best-ever’ campaign. To be honest I am struggling to see how he works this out. Fair enough the 30-year-old has been in great form for the Blues this term bagging 12 Premier League goals.

But that still don’t mean this is his best ever campaign I mean their not top of the premiership they have been chasing most of the season he has not won anything yet this season for both club or him self such as 2009 PFA Players’ Player of the Year

And in recent months split up with his long term fiancée of five years who he has two kids with and could be entitles to up to half his earning

If you ask me things don’t sound that great there is still a lot of work to be done.

Hamiltons Back on Track

April 17th, 2009 by Ken

The current world champion Lewis Hamilton is fighting to repeat last seasons form but has failed to do that in the first two races of the season. How ever things may be on the up as Hamilton set the fastest time in today’s first practice session for this weekend’s Chinese Grand Prix.

After McLaren’s Australian Grand Prix disqualification, and their CEO Ron Dennis leaving the team after 28 years the team look like it was falling but further evidence shows that things might be moving forward for McLaren on the track came after Heikki Kovalainen set the fourth quickest time.

Pacesetters Brawn GP, with Jenson Button second quickest, 0.116s behind Hamilton, while his team-mate Rubens Barrichello was third fastest at 1:37.566s.

Champions League Semi-Final

April 16th, 2009 by Ken

I think for many people the biggest shock was the Chelsea Vs Liverpool result prior to the game many believed that on Liverpool’s day they could beat ant one in the champions league which all comes down to their tie in the past against AC Milan

This Semi final has to be one of the best quarter finals ever played in this competition with their being end to end action through out and plenty of goals to see. Unfortunately there could only be one winner and Chelsea finished off the tie leading to a:

Chelsea Vs Barcelona

Manchester Vs FC Porto many people wrote of the reds in this game for not capitalizing in their home leg which was a good point to make and the stats showing that Porto had never lost to and English club at home made the job seem that little bit harder.

Luckily for the reds C.Ronaldo stepped up to the plate with a magnificent strike from about 40 yards out and a speed of 64mph no keeper was ever going to stop it. From then on Man United just seemed to hold there own and see off Porto enough for them to progress to the next round against:

Manchester United Vs Arsenal

Promotion and Relegation Battles

April 14th, 2009 by Ken

As the season grows to an epic end both the fight for promotion and relegation seems very tight with the bank holiday fixtures rounding up the possibilities of what could happen.

Premiership

With Arsenal winning and Aston villa failing to capitalise on beating Everton the top four for the premiership looks set in stone

How ever at the bottom this looks a close race with only four points separating the bottom six. The teams i think are for the drop includes West Brom, Hull and Sunderland.

Championship

Although Wolves looked poor they still managed to win an stretch their league at the top of the table giving them that automatic promotion place, second place looks like it is going to be tight as Sheff Utd and Birmingham should take second and third

At the other end of the table Charlton look certain for relegation with three other teams fighting for survival including Southampton, Barnsley and Notts Forest
