Who’s the best football striker in their leagues today?

September 26th, 2008 by Ken

Italian league – Ibrahimovic, Currently playing for Inter Milan this player frustrates me at times he has the talent to be the best in the world and when he’s on his game shows this but then in other games its like he’s not even their but overall is a world class striker.

Spanish league – Raul, getting on in his 30’s and still going strong as shown by his top performance in the Spanish cup the other night has been at Real Madrid a very long time now and still remains one of their first team strikers which shows how much of an impact this player must still be causing.

English premier league – Torres, Was a sensation in the Spanish league for many seasons and was on everyone’s wish list Liverpool sealed the deal and his has shown some of his talent already I would give him another season to gel and adjust to the league.

Scottish Leauge – Sameras, Now we all no that this player in not premiership level after his stint with City but now at Celtic he is banging and clearly their main man scoring week in week out now to me that just sums up the level between the Scottish league and the Premiership.

German League - Klose, I rate this striker highly and think he would have no problem playing for any other team in the world with his goal scoring instincts, aerial ability, and unselfish play currently at Bayern Munich.

French League - Karim Benzema, This 20 yr old Lyon striker in my opinion is defiantly one to watch out for he has the skill pace and finishing and has already caused a lot of interest including that from Manchester united.

Forthcoming Boxing Fights

September 23rd, 2008 by Ken

We have seen some great fights over the past years some more entertaining and shocking than other for example Hatton getting knocked down twice and losing in Vegas to Amir Kahn recently being knocked down twice inside a minute and being counted out.

This all a part of the fun in which boxing brings into our lives and over the next few months we are in for more treats including:

Joe Calzaghe Vs Roy Jones Jnr

Ricky Hatton Vs Paulie Malignaggi

David Haye Vs Wladimir Klitschko

Oscar De La Hoya Vs Manny Pacquaio

Bernard Hopkins vs Kelly Pavlik

What a line were in for over the next coming months I’m sure all boxing enthusiasts and supporters are thrilled at this type of coverage which is sure to bring entertain along with shock defeats.

Personally out of these fights listed I would have liked to see Joe fight his last fight against Pavlik known as the ghost who has been tipped by many to become America’s next boxing legend after a flawless start to his middleweight career. For me it’s to much talk and would relish the opportunity to putting one over the American which would signal a great end to the boxer’s career.

Clash of the titans Manchester Vs London

September 20th, 2008 by Ken

Sunday will see a clash of the titans as Manchester United Take on Chelsea.

A huge game for both teams with in their calendar as United try to get their campaign back on the road with only one win in three games and Chelsea currently lying top with consecutive victories.
Through the week seen controversy as Chelsea skipper John Terry had his red card appeal approved allowing him to play in Sundays clash. This frustrated the United Manager who made it very clear that that referee would have never done that for them.
United will play with out Vidic who picked up a late red after his two bookable offences at Liverpool but with the return of Ronaldo in their mid-week game I’m sure he’s set to feature and get straight back into action and find that form he had before his operation.

My prediction for this game is 2-1 and going to go with my heart and say to Manchester United!!

Come on you Reds!!!!

Snooker aims for new audience

September 19th, 2008 by Ken

The next generation of snooker players are adamant that the sport can still appeal to a young audience.

Many of us including my self think that snooker is that of a boring game to play and to watch. I find that many of its audience is of the older generation. It does not attract the attention of the youngsters like sports such as Football Ruby and Tennis.

The likes of young professional, Jamie Cope, Michael Georgiou and Daniel Wells are joining together in an effort to promote the game to a younger audience.

The group where recently speaking at the new launch of World Snooker’s Hotshot scheme, this scheme aims to show there are still personalities in the game.

Many people often say their there’s no characters with in the game and yet the fact of the matter is they still get good viewing figures so snooker is still a very popular sport.

I wonder what World Snooker, as a governing body, will try and do to promote the game? My thoughts would be for them to give all house holds with children Snooker Tables this way they can practice as much as they like and could promote the sport.

Or just place more snookers tables around socials areas and open more clubs in areas.

September 17th, 2008 by Ken

Ricky Hatton is set to return to Las Vegas for his next world title fight in November.
The Hitman is heading back to the MGM Grand Casino for the first time since his haunting defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr in December last year.

He will now put his IBO belt on the line against current IBF light-welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi on Saturday, November 22,

Over 30,000 British fans along with some of Hollywood’s biggest celebs followed Hatton to Las Vegas for the Mayweather showdown, establishing him as one of the most popular boxers in the world.

On the cards is Brooklyn-born Malignaggi, who is also known as the ‘Magic Man’, has won 25 of his 26 professional fights. And in past fights I have seen has become stronger and stronger which each fight with his fast and intelligent boxing.

Training at the legendary Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn where the likes of Jake LaMotta, Roberto Duran, Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali have all prepared for some of the biggest fights in boxing history hopes he can cause another upset to the English man yet again in Las Vegas.

Ronaldo expected back for two big clashes!!

September 16th, 2008 by Ken

Ronaldo, who has been sidelined for two months after undergoing an ankle operation in July, was expected to be out until October.

But the news is that manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed Ronaldo could feature on Wednesday, as well as against Chelsea next weekend.
A great benefit for the side that is currently lying 14th with three games gone not a great start to the season.

Staff have commented that Ronaldo is making great strides in the direction towards first-team football he is now training with the first team and he’s aiming to be a substitute at Chelsea on 21 September.
Let’s just hope that the rest of the team gets a lift from this news and performs just like we no they can because after 20minutes at Liverpool it was awful.

Monza Weekend!

September 12th, 2008 by Ken

A heavy down pouring of rain at Monza has seen the first practice ahead of the Italian Grand Prix rained off.

The downpour was believed to have been so heavy that the water began to bubble up through the drains in front of the F1 team garages.

In the end the practice was then called off with five minutes remaining, as the rain showed no signs of stopping.

With in the 35-minute session, Adrian Sutil of the 10th-ranked Force India team was topping the timesheet, who put in a time of one minute 32.842 seconds.

Team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella of Force India and Honda’s Rubens Barrichello managed to finish the practice run within a second of the leader but many of the top-ranking drivers failed to position at all.

McLaren’s team Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton were just two of six drivers that did not post a time, due to the torrential rain

The qualifying session could also see problems with torrential rain expected and could face postponement.

Robbie Fowler signs for Blackburn Rovers.

September 12th, 2008 by Ken

Blackburn and the ex-Liverpool and Leeds forward have agreed terms on Thursday and has now put pen-to-paper on his Ewood Park contract. After claiming over the summer he would not be joining because of the type of contract they were offering.

Fowler will go straight into the Rovers’ squad to face Arsenal, this weekend a big test for the North West side who are currently lying in 10th place.
Robbie’s contract is supposed to be a three-month performance-related contract with Paul Ince’s side and so I’m sure he will be out to impress and try to emulate his good old days gathering 120 goals during his eight-year spell with Liverpool.

The 33-year-old spent last season with Championship outfit Cardiff City, but linked up with Blackburn over the summer now he has signed a contract all eyes will be on him to see if he still has it.

West Ham Agrees New Manager!

September 11th, 2008 by Ken

West Ham have today agreed a three year deal with the former Chelsea striker, 42, Zola held talks with the Hammers last week about succeeding Alan Curbishley, along with Roberto Donadoni and John Collins.

But, West Ham opted for Zola over the former Italy coach, and he is expected to be unveiled before the weekend.

Zola Italy’s current under-21 coach was interviewed last week, and after board meetings chief executive Scott Duxbury then travelled to Rome to talk to him on Sunday.

Italy are set to face Croatia on Tuesday in their final qualifier for the European Under-21 Championship, and so his attention lies with them for the moment as they need to win or draw to qualify for the tournament in Sweden.
West Ham believes the Italian, who played for Chelsea from 1996 to 2003, has the attributes to be a big success at Upton Park.
Although he has no experience in managing a club side im sure he knows the premiership very well he can speak good English and has a record of developing young footballers, which can only be a benefit for West Ham

Fabio Capello believes England will perform.

September 10th, 2008 by Ken

England are set for a big show down with on form side Croatia to night.

Croatia’s manager has been in the papers of recent weeks not to do with the build up for this game but his success has seen him being linked to the Premier League side West Ham as a successor for Alan Curbishley.

Croatia who have never lost a competitive game at the Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb, beat England home and away on their route to Euro 2008, their 3-2 victory at Wembley in November ending England’s bid to reach the finals in Austria and Switzerland.

Manager Capello how ever feels his side is under less pressure there than at home and feels England can take the points this time round.

Comments from both Captain John Terry and striker Jermain Defoe have stated England would be happy to come away with a draw from tonight’s World Cup qualifier in Zagreb, but Capello believes a win is possible.
