UK Amateur Boxing.

August 29th, 2008 by Ken

To be honest I enjoy boxing watching it excites me and actually doing it is something else I would have to say the training is one of the most demanding I have ever had to do and with playing football at various levels that is saying something. Unless the trainer at the time was just obsessed with fitness.

Amateur boxing how ever in the UK has seen a rise in numbers with most areas in the UK producing their very own boxing club.

I feel this is great for people taking part as for the youngsters it is something for them to take part in besides the common sports such as football and rugby, it also brings other benefits such as fitness and self confidence and as for the adults it can be used as stress release and also for fitness.

Amateur boxing don’t just have to be for fun however and it is a sport where money can be made look at Amir Khan now who was not long ago an amateur boxer,

Other amateur boxers who are making names for themselves and have been seen at the Olympics this year include James Degale, Joe Jeffries & Kalid Yafai.

Boxers for the future to look out for could be the Morgan Twins Rowan & Ruele who are currently training at Chorltons Boxing Club Manchester.

Au revoir Saha.

August 29th, 2008 by Ken

Everton have announced they have agreed to sign Manchester United’s Louis Saha on a two-year contract, subject to a medical.

Toffees boss David Moyes is adding to his squad again with agreeing an undisclosed fee for the France striker, who is being offered a two-year contract with the option of a one-year extension.

The 30-year-old former Newcastle and Fulham striker will become Everton’s third signing in a week following the captures of Lars Jacobsen and Segundo Castillo providing he is passed fit by the club’s medical staff.

Saha, whose spell at Old Trafford was beset by injuries, has 18 international caps and scored 42 goals during his united career.

Not the best for a striker at united but suppose them injuries don’t help. The amount of times I seen Louis come back from injury to play one game and become injured again was a joke to be honest he was lucky to be their for so long.

The most disappointing thing is that on his day he can match most strikers his ability to hold up the ball and finish was excellent he was just plagued with injury and so we hardly ever seen this side of him.

Some part of me hopes that he can go Everton and find his form again with out injury it would be great to see and maybe shows that he just had bad look at Manchester United.

Mobile sport coverage

August 28th, 2008 by Ken

Still not getting live updates or scores directly to your mobile phone? If no then you are missing out. With today’s technology there is nothing you can not use your mobile phone for this includes things such as:

• Accessing your bank account
• Facebook or Myspace
• News

This is considering it’s a decent phone and your not still hanging on to something like the Nokia 3210 or Ericsson T18.

With so many mobiles operators about to choose from all offering sporting coverage live on your phone it is quiet simple to get involved but the question is how involved do you want to get.

For me it’s the simple case of knowing the scores and sporting headlines which I find useful as i don’t always find my self sat in front of the TV as I do have a life and with knowing i have this access can check when ever or where ever i feel.

My current phone the Nokia 6500 Classic provides me with great picture and sound quality for this type of coverage, and highly recommend this phone to anyone.

Is Nemanja’s Future in doubt?

August 27th, 2008 by Ken

Nemanja Vidic has placed doubt on his on his long termstay at united after launching an attack on the weather in Manchester the English way of life and by revealing that he would eventually like to play in Spain.

This all came from an interview held in with a Russian football magazine, the Serbian defender was claiming to be fed up with the climate in Manchester, adding he had found it hard to adapt to life in England.

Some of the claims made by vidic include:

“I will never stay to live in England, that’s for sure,”

“You get only a brief glimpse of sunlight before it’s all cloudy again. The winters are mild, but in summer the temperatures rarely go higher than 20C. And it rains, rains, rains.”

“In future, I would like to test myself in another top league. I’m thinking of Spain.”

Vidic, who joined the Old Trafford club from Spartak Moscow in January 2006, has improved dramatically compared to his first season at old Trafford and has become a regular at the back of the defense.

A loss of someone of this status would be hard to replace and so is in United’s greatest interest that they try and keep hold of him.

ANIMALYMPICS

August 22nd, 2008 by Ken

As we all know the Olympic Games are by far the largest and most important global sporting event that takes place every four years, with millions tuning in.

Animals, however, have their own set of rules and regulations in their kingdom.
This month will see Animal Planet bring to its viewers the Animalympics, a special that will showcases competitive sports in the animal realm. Animalympics will be screened on Aug 23 at 7pm with Animal Games followed by Animal Winter Games on Aug 24 at 7pm.

We all get a sense of what the Olympics are like for humans, but what about for the animals don’t you want to know which is the world’s fastest animal, the best swimmer, or the strongest weight-lifter?
This spectacle guarantees to be great entertainment for all, Animal Planet’s Animal Games pits mammals, fish, birds, reptiles and bugs against each other in six Olympic events _ 100 meter dash, long jump, high jump, shooting, weightlifting and swimming.

To make the games even that little bit more exciting and without modifying their behavior in any way, the animals are scaled to the size of humans with the help of computer graphics to allow them to compete against each other in the various events.

Due to take place in a stadium packed with an audience made up of a variety of animals from parrots to grasshoppers, and with professional sports commentators at each event, this is the Olympic Games as it has never been seen before!
